The Barnards Featuring Peter Ind - Live at Ronnie Scott's (Bass Clef)
If you like your jazz in the middle of the mainstream, with some top-class material immaculately played, then this album could well be for you.
The Australian Barnard family comprise cornetist Bob and his sons Tony on guitar and Adam on drums and here they are joined by British bassist Peter Ind who brings his usual swing and inventiveness to the proceedings.
All are fine players and the group functions smoothly as a unit, nowhere better than on the brisk Pick Yourself Up. Misty, however, is less suited to the up-tempo treatment. The guitar feature Yesterdays is the outstanding track. - Steve Millward.

Having Fun, Wish You Were Here, Three Generations of Barnards
What a talented family the Barnards are. If you were lucky to hear them at last year’s tribute to Len Barnard, you will be racing out to get a copy of this CD without reading any further. Each of the generations brought tunes tot his compilation. Len’s daughter, Rebecca Barnard, has a sexy, breathy voice. She features on some sultry favourites: At Last, I Should Care and my favourite, You Go To My Head. Tony Barnard’s guitar work will blow you away on that great Latin piece, Recordame. Oh, what great brush work from Adam Barnard on Horace Silver’s The Natives Are Restless, and Casey Gold holds his own on the piano. The honorary Barnard, Stan Valacos, gives a melodic version of Scarborough Fair and Chick Corea’s Spain, featuring Bob Barnard on muted cornet. The last track, Ya Big Nong, is an original by the family featuring Adam Barnard playing killer washboard. Loved it all! CD received courtesy of Loretta Barnard.
Canberra Times:
Having Fun, Wish You Were Here, Three Generations of Barnards, in memory of Len Barnard.
Fifteen tracks prove that three generations of Barnards are rightfully legendary in Australian jazz. The dedication to the late Len Barnard, drummer, storyteller, patriarch, recognizes his unfulfilled ambition to make such a recording. Vocalist Rebecca is Barnard’s daughter. His brother Bob (trumpet, flugelhorn) ahs his sons Tony (guitar) and Adam (drums) and grandsons Beau (trombone) and Casey (piano) prove worthy of their lineage. Stan Valacos (bass) is an honorary Barnard. They play a program which reflects many of their jazz interests, from trad to mainstream and bop to soulful ballads. It is balanced, with all the ingredients to get fingers popping and heads nodding. – Michael Foster.
